JUAN SEBASTIAN VERON
Juan Sebastián Verón was born on March 9, 1975 in La Plata, Argentina. He comes from a family of soccer players, since his father, Juan Ramón Verón, was also a renowned soccer player. He began his professional career at local club Estudiantes de La Plata, where he stood out for his ability on the field and leadership in midfield. After several successful seasons in Argentina, Verón made the leap to European football and joined Italian club Sampdoria in 1996. His talent and vision of the game caught the attention of big clubs, and in 1999 he signed for the famous English club Manchester United. However, his time in England was not as successful as expected and he returned to Italy to play for Lazio in 2001. It was at Lazio where Verón would reach his best moment. He won the Italian Scudetto in the 1999-2000 season, in addition to winning the Italian Super Cup and the Italian Cup. His outstanding performance in midfield led him to be recognized as one of the best midfielders in the world at that time. After his time at Lazio, Verón played for other big European clubs such as Chelsea and Inter Milan. He also had a brief return to Estudiantes de La Plata, where he helped the club win the Copa Libertadores in 2009 and the Recopa Sudamericana in 2010. At the international level, Verón represented Argentina in two World Cups (2002 and 2010) and was part of the team that won the gold medal at the 2004 Athens Olympic Games. In total, Juan Sebastián Verón had a successful and globally recognized career, leaving his mark on clubs and the Argentine national team. Today, he works as president and player in Estudiantes de La Plata.
