Rio de Janeiro going through EXTREME heat! πŸ‡§πŸ‡·πŸ”₯

The city of Brazil registered a record thermal sensation of 59.7 degrees during this month, generating extreme situations in the most vulnerable populations.

In the previous week, this high temperature figure was reached, and it led to the suspension of the concert of the American singer Taylor Swift, who is on a world tour.

This intense heat led many people to cool off on the beaches, such as Copacabana and Ipanema.

Experts say that the most acute effects are found in the poorest neighborhoods, due to the high population density and precarious housing separated only by narrow passages. Inside these houses, they do not have insulation from the heat, nor ventilation, but on the contrary, a sauna sensation is generated that does not allow them to breathe.

For those who work on the streets, the heat is unbearable. That is why they try to start their work very early so that by 1:00 p.m. they are already returning home, and thus be able to continue generating income to be able to live.

One of the tragic consequences that these very hot days brought was the death of Ana Clara Benavides, a young fan of Taylor Swift, who died of cardiac arrest caused by dehydration and extreme heat during one of the singer's recitals. . This has shocked the country and has led the president to take the measure of bringing plenty of bottles of water into events to prevent future tragedies.

These climatic conditions are a consequence of the phenomenon called: “El NiΓ±o” causing extreme impacts on the climate, historical droughts that emptied rivers in the Amazon and intense rains with cyclones in the south of the country.
